NEW DATE – Saturday 8th June 2019 – Bat count at Hutton Buscel. We have tied this in with the ‘Garden weekend’ in the village. The village is also planning to install some bat boxes during the summer as part of their environmental improvement grant. Tuesday 11th June 2019 – Throxenby Mere Scarborough Field Nats (NY) are having a ‘pot luck’ supper with bats and moths afterwards thanks to Philip Winter and Allan Rodda. Bring some snacks and anything for yourself to drink. Meet at Throxenby Mere car park, where there are picnic tables, at 8.00pm. Sunday 9th June 2019 – Friends of Rowntree Park – Wildlife Day – East Yorkshire Bat Group will have an information stand.  We would love to see you there between 12pm and 3pm. Friday 26th July 2019 –  Brompton by Sawdon survey (NY). The village runs a number of environmental activities and thanks to Alison Tubbs we are making it a village activity. There will be a general talk on bats for the public in the hall from 7.00pm until 8.00 for those interested followed by the bat survey. There are some good habitats around the village with a large pond, church and many old buildings. Meet at the village hall for the survey at 8.15pm. Grid Reference SE944821. Friday 9th August 2019 –  Deepdale survey (NY). Peter Robinson did a botanical survey here in 1993 and this was followed up by Gordon Simpson in 1996. The Scarborough Nats are planning to do a repeat of this survey as a tribute to Peter Robinson and a bat survey would be a good addition to this study. Various good habitats are present from water bodies, fen and broad and conifer woodland. Meet at Bickley gate car park at 7:45 pm. Grid Reference SE910910. Friday 23rd  August 2019- Low North Camp bat survey. This will be a follow up of all the work we have done in the last two years. We will carry out another point survey and also do some moth trapping thanks to Philip Winter and Allan Rodda. Meet at the entrance to the camp on the left just over the river bridge at 7.45pm.
